Legacy Angus Ranch breeds calving-ease, carcass-proven Black Angus that thrive on pasture and finish with pride. 650 registered mothers, 120 bulls a year, and beef our family actually eats.

Founded in 1948 by Harlan Whitaker with 14 heifers bought from a dispersal sale, Legacy Angus Ranch is now run by the Whitaker family — Jim, Carla, and sons Cole & Wyatt. No shortcuts, no show barn tricks. Just honest cattle that work for commercial ranchers.

We select for fertility first, feet and udders second, then growth and carcass. Every cow must breed back on grass, wean 50% of her body weight, and stay in the herd past age 10. If she can't, she leaves — papers or not. Our bulls are developed slowly on forage + 8 lbs grain, never pushed, so they last 5 seasons, not one.

Harlan Whitaker trades his wheat allotment for 14 Angus heifers and leases 640 acres of bluestem.
